For self- relisation is it necessary to have a Living Guru? IF yes , how do you know who is the true Guru for you?
It all depends upon your preparedness, Guru role hardly matters. But if you are in K.G. level live Guru is must for your preparation. If you are post graduate (as Nisargadatta Maharaj used to say) you can consider yourself fully prepared to take on the journey on your own with the guide maps provided in the scriptures or by Masters(live/dead). In case you want to go for live Guru then "Hit and trial" method is the best way. Go to one Guru stay with him for a few days/months/years (depending upon your life expectancy). If some changes are noticed stay with him further, if not move to other Guru. Don't stick with one for a long time unless changes start visible/noticeable as you don't know how much balance is left of your earthy life. Don't bank on future birth as even if it is there you will not be able to remember this birth, in the so called possible next birth. Take this one as only birth and don't waste time. Debit entries are known but balance remains unknown. Ultimately nothing is in your hand. The fact/truth remains that"EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING ON ITS OWN".
